Bollywood actor Zayed Khan recently opened up about the challenges he faced in his career, pointing to the impact of appearing in multi-starrer films as a significant factor in his career’s downturn. Known for his roles in early 2000s hits like Main Hoon Na, Khan shared that the influx of offers to play secondary roles led to dissatisfaction, both personally and professionally.
In a candid interview, Zayed explained that after a series of multi-starrer films, he found himself being typecast in supporting roles, often playing “second fiddle” to other leading actors. He noted, “I became part of multi-starrers where the weight of success was shared, but the individual recognition wasn’t there.” This shift in his career trajectory not only affected his professional growth but also stirred emotions within his family. He said, “I took my stardom for granted and didn’t listen to a lot of people who advised me to do single-hero films. Once you are absorbed by a market, you have to show them that you are able to hold a film on your shoulders. It’s a big responsibility. I wanted to work in big films. I wasn’t bred to do artistic films. I was so much into the action genre that big-ticket action films always got the better of me.”
Zayed shared that his father’s frustration stemmed from seeing Zayed, who had the potential to be a leading actor, being sidelined into roles that didn’t fully showcase his talent. Despite these setbacks, Zayed remains optimistic and is looking to rebuild his career with a focus on roles that allow him to shine independently.
