Renowned Bollywood actor and director Manoj Kumar, celebrated for his patriotic-themed films, has passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai. He died on Friday (4-April-2025) at 3:30 am due to heart complications, with decompensated liver cirrhosis as a secondary cause.
Manoj Kumar’s Life and Career
Born as Harikrishan Giri Goswami on July 24, 1937, in Abbottabad, British India (now in Pakistan), Kumar migrated to Delhi during the Partition. He began his Bollywood career in 1957 with the film “Fashion.” Over the years, he became known for his roles in movies like “Purab Aur Paschim” and “Kranti,” which often showcased patriotic themes.
Kumar’s contributions to Indian cinema were recognized with several awards, including the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over Kumar’s demise, describing him as a “legendary actor” and a national icon. He noted that Kumar’s films, which inspired national pride, would continue to influence future generations.
