Taapsee Pannu Shares Her Source of Pride: Choosing Roles Others Avoid

Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu recently opened up about what fills her with pride in her acting career. In a candid revelation, she stated that accepting challenging roles that others often avoid is what makes her feel truly accomplished.

Taapsee, known for her fearless choice of films, expressed that saying yes to movies that nobody wants her to do brings her immense pride. She believes that taking on unconventional and risky roles helps her grow as an artist and distinguishes her in the industry. Taapsee Pannu gave a direct and motivational response when asked in a recent interview which of her four passions—love, life, family, or career—makes her feel proud. “It is easy for me to feel happy or proud,” she remarked. “When I say yes to a movie that nobody wants me to do and I end up doing it, and it works… that makes me proud. Or even when there’s a film I am cast in which nobody thought I could pull off, it fills me with pride.”

She talked more candidly on her career choices, “I think for a lot of films, I have not really been the first choice. For example, when Haseen Dillruba (2021) happened, I think people didn’t really expect to see me in that avatar. When I was cast in Dunki (2023), I don’t think anybody really expected me to be in that kind of film because I really don’t have access to or had been a part of that circle. So, these are the kind of things that make me feel proud that ‘okay you’ve probably done something right to reach here where you have’.”

Despite the potential risks, she finds great satisfaction in embracing projects that push boundaries and defy expectations. Her filmography, filled with diverse and powerful roles, is a testament to her commitment to challenging the status quo.
