Superboys of Malegaon’ Trailer Showcases Small-Town Filmmakers Chasing Bollywood Dreams

The trailer for “Superboys of Malegaon” has just been released, capturing the hearts of viewers with its story of amateur filmmakers in a small Indian town. Directed by Faiza Ahmad Khan, the film follows a group of passionate individuals from Malegaon, a town in Maharashtra, who dream of making their own Bollywood-style movies despite limited resources. The Amazon MGM Studios comedy will have its theatrical premiere in the United States and India in January 2025, after having its grand world premiere on September 13, at the Toronto Film Festival.

In Superboys of Malegaon, Nasir approaches his pals about producing a low-budget movie about people in their lives as the residents of tiny towns seek solace in Bollywood films.

The producers define the movie’s gist as, “Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands together his ragtag group of friends to bring his vision to life, thereby bringing a fresh lease of life into the town. The film is a poignant yet uplifting take on both filmmaking and friendship — and what happens when those two worlds collide.”

Shashank Arora, Vineet Kumar Singh, Anuj Singh Duhan, Saqib Ayub, Pallav Singgh, Manjiri Pupala, and Muskkaan Jaferi are among the other actors who feature in the Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Production.

Kagti directed Superboys of Malegaon, which was based on a script written by Varun Grover. Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Kagti share producer credit.
