Renowned playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan has made shocking revelations about the harsh realities of the Bollywood music industry. In a candid interview, she discussed issues like unpaid projects and the authenticity of reality shows, providing insight into the challenges many artists face.
The singer disclosed that she had not received payment for a number of ventures in the past while appearing on Raj Shamani’s podcast. According to Sunidhi Chauhan, there are instances in which several vocalists record a song, but only one is paid and the others are powerless to stop it. She continued by saying that occasionally she decides not to accept the money in order to support the artist or initiative.
In contrast to earlier times, Sunidhi disclosed that everything on TV these days is censored and distorted. She went on to say that although she had liked her time as an Indian idol, she was unable to maintain the genuineness. “The performance you heard was the same as what was broadcast; there was no emotional drama, just fun.”
Chauhan highlighted the problem of unpaid work, noting that many aspiring singers and musicians often accept such projects in hopes of gaining exposure or breaking into the industry. She stated, “There was no emotional drama, just fun, and the performance you heard was the same as what was broadcast on TV.” Chauhan also suggested that these shows often prioritize drama and scripted content over genuine talent discovery. “Reality shows are often manipulated to create specific narratives or to favor certain contestants. It’s not always about the best voice,” she explained.
