Spanish President Pedro Sanchez recently visited Yash Raj Films (YRF) studios in Mumbai, marking a significant step in fostering cultural ties between India and Spain. During his visit, Sanchez engaged with YRF’s Aditya Chopra, discussing possibilities for future collaborations and highlighting the potential for cinematic and cultural exchanges between the two nations. Pedro met Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of YRF, and the two discussed the company’s 50-year history as well as the Indian film industry’s five-year outlook.
The visit comes as part of Sanchez’s broader initiative to strengthen cultural connections and promote Spain as a key partner in India’s film industry. This aligns with Spain’s increasing popularity as a filming destination for Bollywood, with movies like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara boosting Spanish tourism.
Akshay Widhani candidly said at the end, “We were proud to host the Spanish President at Yash Raj Films yesterday. His studio visit is a milestone moment in our 50-year-old rich legacy. We were honoured to share with him our contribution to the Indian film industry and had an in-depth conversation about deepening cultural ties between Spain & YRF. Spain has been incredibly supportive to us over the years, and we were all too proud to have the President visit our studios.”
