At a recent IIFA 2024 press conference, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan took a moment to laud Abhishek Banerjee’s performance in the highly anticipated film Stree 2. Shah Rukh expressed his admiration for Abhishek’s acting skills, highlighting how the actor has consistently delivered powerful performances, with Stree 2 being no exception. Shah Rukh’s acknowledgment of Banerjee’s talent added to the growing anticipation for the horror-comedy sequel.
In a lighter moment, Shah Rukh also playfully advised filmmaker Karan Johar to return to his roots in filmmaking rather than focusing on hosting shows. During the press briefing, Abhishek, who will co-host IIFA Rocks with Siddhant Chaturvedi, was spotted ogling Shah Rukh. Following his amazing film (Stree 2), the Jawan actor addressed Abhishek when he entered the stage, saying, “Abhishek, it is so wonderful to see you after seeing your wonderful film (Stree 2). I have been wanting to call you.”
In addition, SRK made light of rejoining IIFA after more than ten years. He remarked, “They have called me just once before. Now they invited me after a decade. I would have always loved to come, but unfortunately, IIFA was hosted at the times when I was shooting.” He jokingly pointed at Karan Johar and remarked, “Please come for the rehearsals, Karan. He has told me he will not rehearse. He wants to do it on Zoom. Make some movies also, brother, how much will you host.”
This year, IIFA Utsavam will happen concurrently with the IIFA Awards, which will be hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar. IIFA Utsavam, which honors the finest in South Asian film, will be hosted by Rana Daggubati. The Baahubali star disclosed that Shah Rukh and KJo had previously hosted an amazing after-party for the whole industry when he came on stage with them.
