Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn emerged as the top celebrities in the list of celebrity-endorsed advertisements aired during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The two Bollywood stalwarts garnered significant attention with their endorsements during the highly popular cricket tournament.
According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn’s advertisements were among the most-watched and talked-about during the IPL 2024 matches. Their star power and influence contributed to the success of the brands they endorsed, making them sought-after choices for advertisers.
The publication sourced data from TAM Sports, which showed that their percentage of commercials was a whopping 19%. Advertisers such as Sporta Technologies, Vishnu Packaging, K P Pan Foods, Playgames 24X7, and Coca-Cola India accounted for 65% of the celebrity-endorsed advertisements. Virender Sehwag leads the pack this year among sports superstars with a 7.5% part of the ad volumes, followed by Hardik Pandya with a 7.4% share. Virat Kohli was the most famous sports figure in the IPL in 2023.
The TAM Sports statistics also revealed that, compared to previous year, just 61% of all TV advertising during the 2024 Indian Premier League were celebrity-endorsed, down from 75% of all commercials. This year, the percentage of non-celebrity advertisements increased from 25% to 39%. Furthermore, Ecom-Gaming, Pan Masala, Aerated Soft Drink, Face Wash, and Paints were the top five categories for celebrity advertisements, accounting for a substantial portion of 75% of ad volumes, according to the survey.
The presence of Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn in the IPL 2024 advertisements underscores the significance of celebrity endorsements in the marketing space.
