Sanjay Leela Bhansali released on Netflix on May 1, 2024, and since then, it has collected several accolades and applauds from all over the world. But after so much vigor and celebrations, Bhansali revealed a shocking news.
In a surprising turn of events, celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has declared that he will “never be able to make” the highly anticipated project “Heeramandi” again. This announcement has left fans and industry insiders wondering about the fate of the proposed second season. Bhansali’s statement comes amidst speculation surrounding the future of the series, which was initially planned as a two-part project. However, the director’s assertion suggests that there may be significant hurdles preventing the continuation of the storyline.
He said in a recent interview, “After every film, Heeramandi would come out. But I would say, it’s too vast, it’s too epic to be made into a two-hour film. Finally, the time came and we said, let’s make it into a series, because that will do justice to the vastness of it.” And then he revealed, “We’ve made it, I’ve enjoyed making it, and I’m thankful to God that we made it… It was a very difficult project. Nobody else will ever be able to make Heeramandi again, nor will I be able to make it again, because it happens once.”
Heeramandi, which debuted in May to a mixed reception, is billed as the most costly Indian original film Netflix has ever created.
