Ranjeet Recalls 70s Bollywood Parties: Rajesh Khanna’s Drinking Habits and Parveen Babi’s Drink Hosting Skills

Veteran actor Ranjeet reminisces about the extravagant parties of 1970s Bollywood, revealing interesting anecdotes about the stars’ social gatherings. He recalls how Rajesh Khanna would consume one to two bottles of alcohol at such events, while actress Parveen Babi would take on the role of a bartender. Ranjeet’s revelations offer a glimpse into the vibrant social scene of the golden era of Indian cinema industry, where Bollywood celebrities mingled and indulged in lavish festivities. He also shares insights into the culinary talents of actress Neetu Kapoor, who would often prepare bhindi (okra) for the gatherings.

The veteran actor revealed, “Reena Roy would make paranthas, Parveen Babi would make drinks, Moushumi Chatterjee would make fish, Neetu Kapoor would make bhindi, it used to be that kind of atmosphere. People like Rajesh Khanna would drink one-two bottles in one night and mentioned that by the time Ranjeet would come home after working multiple shifts, the party would already be in full swing. I was blessed. I believe that the house that welcomes guests is blessed by god. I had enough space in my bungalow to entertain people. There was enough staff also.”

The actor’s recollections provide a nostalgic look back at a bygone era of Bollywood, highlighting the Bollywood’s elite class’s camaraderie.
