In a significant development for the Indian film industry, “Ramayana,” featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, has claimed the title of the country’s most expensive cinematic venture to date. With a staggering investment, the project has set a new benchmark for grandeur and scale in Bollywood. The ambitious retelling of the ancient epic has garnered attention not only for its star-studded cast but also for its massive budget, reflective of the filmmakers’ commitment to bringing this timeless tale to life on the silver screen.
With an astronomical $100 million budget, the Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash flick becomes the most costly movie in the nation. This 835 crore budget is only for the first act of the movie. An insider stated in an interview that the goal of the film’s production is to take the audience on a visual feast and turn the movie into a worldwide spectacle.
The only other movies with budgets over Rs 500 crore are RRR, Adipurush, and Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone. Along with 600 days of post-production, Ramayana’s creators apparently have 2026 as their target release date.
As production progresses on “Ramayana,” the film continues to generate buzz within the industry and among audiences, raising expectations for a cinematic spectacle unlike any other.
