Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh recently expressed her surprise at the high fees charged by stylists in the film industry. In a candid interview, Rakul revealed that she was taken aback by the amount some stylists demanded, which she found excessive. She highlighted how the industry’s obsession with appearance can sometimes create an unhealthy environment for actors.
Rakul Preet shared how she bonds with her colleagues by food and exercise rather than gossip, stating that they play a key role in her life. ” You are who you surround yourself with. You spend more time with your core team—hair and make up, spot boy—so it’s important to know what energy they carry. I don’t want to listen to gossip at 7 in the morning, I’m not interested in knowing about someone else’s life.”
Rakul explained that the immense pressure to look perfect at all times can lead to insecurity among actors. She also recalled her initial days in Bollywood when she was advised to have a stylist, “I didn’t know during promotions that I had to get a stylist. I learnt that right before my promotions were starting and I thought, ‘My God this is so expensive!’ This is 12 years ago. Stylists ate expensive, they can range anywhere between Rs 15,000 to a lakh for one event, one outfit. You learn from all these things.” She emphasized that constant scrutiny about looks, and clothing choices can negatively impact mental well-being.
Rakul Preet Singh’s honest take sheds light on the hidden challenges actors face in Bollywood, urging a change in mindset toward more meaningful and respectful standards of evaluating talent.
