Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has announced that his son, Hrithik Roshan, will direct the upcoming superhero film ‘Krrish 4’. This decision marks a significant shift in the franchise, as Rakesh has directed all previous installments, including ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’, ‘Krrish’, and ‘Krrish 3’.
Addressing the change, Rakesh emphasized that his choice to step back is not due to health concerns. He believes that for the franchise to evolve, it needs fresh perspectives. “I feel with time, the franchise can grow only if it evolves. And for it to evolve, it has to pass on to a younger hand,” he stated.
Rakesh expressed confidence in Hrithik’s ability to helm the project, noting that Hrithik has been involved with the ‘Krrish’ series from the beginning and has prior experience assisting in directorial roles. He remarked, “Hrithik has been with Krrish from the beginning. Before that, he has assisted me in my directorials. I feel he is equipped to take Krrish forward.”
Despite stepping away from directing ‘Krrish 4’, Rakesh clarified that this does not signify his retirement from filmmaking. He remains open to directing future projects if he finds compelling material. “I would return to direction if I find something that interests me,” he affirmed.
