Manoj Bajpayee Defends Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’: “If You Don’t Like It, Don’t Watch It”

Acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee recently addressed the criticism surrounding Ranbir Kapoor’s highly buzzed Bollywood movie of 2023 – Animal, offering a straightforward response to the movie Karens. Bajpayee advised critics and audiences alike to exercise their choice as viewers, suggesting that if they don’t appreciate the film, they simply shouldn’t watch it.

Bajpayee’s comments come amid a wave of mixed reactions to the film’s trailers and promotional materials. He emphasized that personal taste is subjective, and not every film will cater to everyone’s preferences. His defense of “Animal” underscores the importance of artistic freedom and the right of filmmakers to pursue their creative vision without undue backlash. He responded, “I am very clear, if many people disagree or don’t like a film, what’s wrong with that? The film is released, does its business, and moves on. The money goes into the producer’s pocket; let them take it; they invested in the movie.”

He added, “If you don’t want to watch it, then don’t. If you disagree with something, it’s better not to watch it, but don’t create trouble for the movie. You will be only encouraging a bad notion by doing so. What if others hinder your work in the same way? There should be open discourse without calls for bans or protests.”
