Lawrence Bishnoi is under police scrutiny for the murder of Baba Siddique

Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster, is under police investigation in connection with the murder of Indian politician Baba Siddique. Bishnoi, who faces over two dozen criminal cases, is notorious for his involvement in extortion, murder, and smuggling operations. His name has surfaced in several high-profile cases, including attacks on other political figures and celebrities. Authorities are focusing on Bishnoi’s possible role in Siddique’s killing as part of his wider criminal network. The police are intensifying their probe to track Bishnoi’s activities and connections to the crime.

According to local media accounts, Baba Siddique, 66, was shot by gunmen close to his son’s political office. Two persons have been taken into custody in relation to the murder.

Former local minister Siddique was a prominent figure in Maharashtra state politics, which is scheduled to hold legislative elections next month. He left India’s largest opposition party, the Congress, in February and joined the unrelated regional National Congress Party (NCP), which is a member of the BJP’s ruling alliance. Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra and member of Siddique’s party, expressed his amazement at the “cowardly attack”.

Siddique was well-known for his extravagant parties and his strong relationships to Bollywood actors. Because of a significant Hindu festival in the city, there was heightened security throughout the incident.
