Actress Lara Dutta recently shared a shocking incident from her past, revealing how she stood up against harassment with the support of her co-star Akshay Kumar. Dutta recounted an incident where she physically confronted a man who pinched her waist at a film event, prompting Kumar to intervene and pull her away.
In a candid interview with Hauterrfly, Lara Dutta disclosed the incident, highlighting the distressing experience of facing harassment in public. The actress bravely retaliated against the perpetrator, demonstrating zero tolerance for such behavior. She said, “During my first film, Andaaz, Priyanka, Akshay and me, all three of us went to Delhi. I think it was somewhere in Chandni Chowk, there used to be a place called Rhythm House which was the venue for our music release. It was my first film; it was my first time as an actress and I was wearing a saree that day.”
Lara reported that a sizable gathering had gathered outside the venue due to the presence of Akshay Kumar, Miss Universe Lara, and Miss World Priyanka Chopra. She revealed that one of the attendees had slipped into their hand and pinched her around the waist. “Someone in the crowd sneaked in their hand and pinched me on my waist. I almost had some intuition, maybe this was military training, that you can sense that something is wrong. The moment that hand came in, I held that hand and I pulled out that guy from the crowd,” the woman remarked.
Dutta’s revelation sheds light on the pervasive issue of harassment faced by women, even in public spaces. Her actions, coupled with Akshay Kumar’s timely intervention, underscore the importance of standing up against harassment and supporting each other in such situations.
