At the recent trailer launch of “Bad Newz,” filmmaker Karan Johar hinted at the possibility of re-releasing his iconic film “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.” The 2001 family drama, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor, has remained a fan favorite over the years.
During the event, Johar surprised everyone by admitting, “I haven’t actually seen the entire film.” This unexpected revelation added an intriguing twist to the discussion about the beloved movie. Despite being the director, Johar confessed that he never watched “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” from start to finish after its release.
He stated, “I believe the film deserves a re-release on its 25th anniversary. I haven’t actually seen the entire film myself. I only watch my films properly once, during the final stages of editing. After that, I don’t revisit them. It’s been 23 years since I last saw K3G. I only catch snippets when they pop up on social media reels.”
“Bad Newz,” the new film Johar is currently promoting, is already generating buzz with its gripping trailer. However, the potential re-release of “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” has captured the attention of Bollywood enthusiasts in and outside of India too.
