John Abraham recently opened up about a challenging period in his career when Bollywood had written him off. In a candid interview, the actor revealed that there was a time when the industry declared him “finished, done, out,” leading him to take a four-year break from work.
During this tough phase, John faced criticism and doubts about his ability to sustain his career in Bollywood. Reflecting on this, he shared, “For four years, I didn’t work because I was told I was finished.” However, instead of letting these negative remarks affect him, John used the time to reflect, regroup, and come back stronger.
Talking with Ranveer Allahbadia, John answered to Allahbadia’s question ‘why he decided to become a producer’, and he said, “Because the movies I was doing and the movies I was watching, I was not happy (with them). I wanted to change things… Everybody’s life has an X and a Y axis. A Z axis came into my life. Suddenly, people started seeing me as more than just a bulky guy. They began to believe that I had brains, too. They realised that I can make different kinds of films, like Vicky Donor, Parmanu, Batla House… The first defining point in my life was Jism, then Dhoom, and then when I became a producer.”
John emphasized the importance of resilience in the face of adversity. He mentioned that rather than being discouraged, he focused on improving himself and waited for the right opportunity to prove his critics wrong.
