Veteran filmmaker Rahul Rawail recently shared intriguing insights into his casting choices for several Bollywood stars, highlighting the unique qualities that led to their selection. Rawail revealed that Kajol was chosen for her raw talent, which stood out and made her a natural fit for the roles she played. Her unpolished acting skills brought a fresh and authentic vibe to the screen.
Aishwarya Rai, on the other hand, was picked due to her prestigious Miss World title. Rawail believed that her global recognition and charm would add significant value to the films she was cast in. Her beauty and poise, coupled with her title, made her an attractive choice for filmmakers aiming to draw audiences. He said that Aishwarya’s attractiveness and title as Miss World played a major role in her selection, but Kajol was picked for her undeveloped skill. Rawail emphasized his interest in finding new talent and reiterated his passion for working with novices.
“I wouldn’t say that I knew Kajol would be a star,” the director said, discussing Kajol’s path to stardom. One thing I was certain of was Kajol’s talent as an actress. However, she has emerged as a celebrity and is deserving of her success. She also remembers her early years.”
Regarding Aishwarya’s premiere, Rawail related an encounter she had in London during the premiere of Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya with a fan. Despite Aishwarya’s talent and beauty, a young man told him that she seemed like someone he would love as a sister. Rawail considered the movie’s influence after hearing this remark. Even with Aishwarya’s gorgeous appearance, the movie did poorly at the box office.
Bobby Deol, however, faced a different set of circumstances. According to Rawail, Deol’s laid-back attitude resulted in him losing several opportunities in the industry. While his relaxed demeanor was initially seen as an appealing trait, it ultimately hindered his professional growth and cost him potential roles.
