Veteran actress Farida Jalal recently spoke out in defense of her Heeramandi co-star, Sharmin Segal, amid criticism of Segal’s performance in the upcoming web series. In a candid conversation, Jalal urged people to refrain from being mean and overly critical of the young actress, emphasizing that everyone has their own capacity and limitations.
In an interview with India Today, Farida addressed co-star Sharmin Segal’s criticism of her performance in the show. She said, “I know, I am not happy about this. Be kind. What her capacity as an actor is, she has done her best. I don’t feel the character needs to be very boisterous and loud, the role was not like that.” She continued expressing her concern to people’s trolls and how it is harming one’s demeanor, “What were you expecting? Yes, what you thought you needed… It’s ok, why should we be mean to the girl? Be kind, maybe that’s her capacity, just that much. I don’t think the real role was boisterous, it wasn’t. She is a shayara, she falls in love with my bacchha (Taha Shah’s character) and that’s it.”
Jalal, known for her wisdom and experience in the industry, highlighted that Sharmin Segal is still honing her craft and should be given the space to grow.
