In an intriguing revelation, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar disclosed that Hrithik Roshan was initially considered for the lead role in his hit film “Don” before Shah Rukh Khan came on board. Farhan Akhtar’s version of “Don,” which released in 2006, is a remake of the iconic 1978 film starring Amitabh Bachchan.
During a recent interview, Farhan mentioned that Hrithik Roshan was his first choice for the role of the charming and cunning Don. The director believed Hrithik’s versatility and charisma would perfectly embody the character’s dual nature. During an interview with Raj Shamani’s podcast, Akhtar described how he contacted Hrithik to inquire about his change of heart. Hrithik answered in a most courteous manner. Farhan remembered Hrithik saying to him, “You have to make your film in the best way possible. If you think Shah Rukh is the right choice, go ahead and call him. Don’t worry about me.” Akhtar said that Hrithik’s response demonstrated maturity and professionalism.
Farhan praised Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal, stating that the actor brought a unique flair and intensity to the character, which contributed significantly to the film’s success.
Now that Shah Rukh Khan has resigned from the Don role, Ranveer Singh will take over for the forthcoming Don 3. The franchise was held to a high standard when Shah Rukh Khan was cast in the first movie by Farhan Akhtar; it is unclear how Ranveer Singh will personalize the character.
