Director Farah Khan recently revealed that Deepika Padukone’s diction was deemed “really bad” during the filming of “Om Shanti Om,” prompting her voice to be dubbed for the film. Khan made this revelation during a chat show appearance.
Khan also explained that Padukone’s voice was dubbed by veteran actress Mona Ghosh Shetty for the Shahrukh Khan’s movie. Despite Padukone’s impressive performance, Farah Khan felt that her diction needed improvement.
However, Film director Khan also acknowledged Padukone’s growth and improvement since her debut film. She praised Padukone’s dedication and hard work, stating that the actress has come a long way in her career.
She remembered and said, “I spoke to her (Deepika Padukone) and I said I am making Happy New Year. I said I’ll test you and if you are good, I’ll cast you opposite Shah Rukh. If you are not good, I will take you with Zayed.” She added, “Everything else was sync sound but her voice was dubbed. She was doing diction classes, not very seriously. But she was doing dance class, diction class, Anupam Kher’s acting school. I enrolled her in everything. We were properly training her.”
Padukone made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in “Om Shanti Om,” which was a huge commercial success. The film marked the beginning of her successful journey in the Hindi film industry.
