Popular Uttarakhand-based YouTuber Saurabh Joshi has been summoned by the Delhi Police in connection with the massive Rs 1,000 crore Highbox App scam. The YouTuber, known for his vlogs, is being investigated over his alleged involvement in promoting the app, which is now under scrutiny for defrauding a large number of people.
The Highbox App, which promised users lucrative returns, is accused of running a fraudulent investment scheme, duping investors across the country. The police suspect that promotional activities by influencers like Joshi might have contributed to the app’s widespread reach and popularity, leading to the scam’s massive scale. Haldwani Circle Officer Nitin Lohani offered his thoughts on the situation, saying, “We haven’t received instructions from Delhi Police for cooperation in the investigation. We will provide assistance only of the police department issues directives.”
The Highbox app may be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play, according to cyber police. Con artists assured victims that they could take the desired goods, store them in mystery boxes, and resell the remaining stuff for a profit. Customers were promised a complete refund if the box couldn’t be opened. The conditions of the program said that users would still get a full refund even if the contents’ value was less than the mystery box’s. The investors decided to purchase mystery boxes for Rs 300 as a result.
Harish Joshi finally stated, “Saurabh is in Delhi and will cooperate fully with the agency. He will respond to the IFSO’s queries soon.”
