Arms Supplier in Salman Khan Firing Case Dies by Suicide in Police Custody

In a shocking turn of events related to the Salman Khan firing case, an arms supplier, who was reportedly linked to the incident, has died by suicide while in police custody. The tragic incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the supplier’s death and has added complexity to the ongoing investigation.

According to an NDTV report, Thapan, who had been arrested in Punjab a few days prior, killed himself in a locked restroom while being watched over by police. The circumstances surrounding his death are being looked into by the authorities; former police officer PK Jain has pointed out that it is mandatory to consider these kinds of situations as murder investigations and to interview all the policemen involved.

All deaths in police custody are handled as murder cases, and the Criminal inquiry Department (CID) would carry out a thorough inquiry, according to former senior police official from Maharashtra PK Jain. Jain also underlined the importance of routinely inspecting lock-ups for any items that might be used for self-harm.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has designated Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as the primary suspects in the case, claiming to have amassed enough evidence against them. According to reports, Anmol Bishnoi took credit for the attack, pointing to a long-running dispute between Salman Khan and the Bishnoi gang that started with a 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, the gunmen, were apprehended soon after the shooting. They were seen riding away from the site on a motorcycle in CCTV footage. After conducting more research, the police found two handguns, magazines, and bullets in Gujarat’s Tapi River that they suspected to be the weapons used in the attack. Gupta and Pal were first placed under police remand until April 29 in order to further investigation.
