Akshay Kumar, one of Bollywood’s most prolific actors, recently addressed his recent string of box office failures with a strong statement of resilience and determination. Despite a few of his films not performing as expected, Akshay remains unfazed and committed to his craft.
In an interview, Akshay Kumar candidly spoke about the ups and downs of his career, asserting, “Apne dum pe kamaata hoon” (I earn on my own merit). He emphasized that his success has always been based on his hard work and dedication. Despite the setbacks, Akshay expressed his unwavering commitment to continue working, saying, “I will keep working till they have to shoot me down.” With the exception of OMG 2, the dry spell in his career lasted from 2021 to 2024. It started in 2021 with the publication of Bell Bottom. He started 2024, for example, with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, a box office disaster. His influence and celebrity even made a dent on Sarfira, which premiered to favorable reviews from moviegoers. He concluded by saying, “Idhar hi hoon. Kaam karte rahunga. Humesha kaam karte rahunga. Chaahe log kuchh bhi bole. Subhe uthna hai, kasrat karni hai, kaam pe jaana hai, waapas aana hai. Jo bhi kamata hoon, apne dum pe kamata hoon. Kisi se kuch maanga nahi hai. I will keep on working till they have to shoot me down.”
He reassured his fans and the industry that he remains passionate about acting and will continue to pursue diverse roles.
Currently his new venture is Khel Khel Mein movie. Aditya Seal, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal, Taapsee Pannu, and Vaani Kapoor are also featured in Khel Khel Mein. The comedy-drama is scheduled to be released on July 4, 2024. It will square off against John Abraham’s Vedaa, Stree 2 by Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, and both.
