In the historical drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, a deleted scene featuring Divya Dutta and Ashutosh Rana has recently surfaced online, sparking discussions among fans. The scene showcases an intense dialogue between Dutta’s character, Soyrabai, and Rana’s Hambir Rao, delving into the sacrifices made for Swarajya and questioning Soyrabai’s motives.
Reacting to the scene’s emergence, Divya Dutta expressed surprise and a hint of disappointment. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she stated, “I’m actually surprised to see the scene online. And yeah, it was one of my very favourite scenes. But yeah, it happens. Not in my hands though.” Despite the omission, Dutta acknowledged the film’s success and the appreciation she’s received, adding, “The film is getting lots of love, and I’m getting lots of love.”
Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, has been lauded for its compelling narrative and performances. The film features Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with a supporting cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta. Since its release on February 14, Chhaava has achieved significant box office success, grossing ₹219.75 crore. The film has been declared tax-free in Maharashtra and Goa, with calls for similar measures in other states.
While the deleted scene did not make it to the final cut in Indian theaters, its online circulation has provided fans with additional insight into the film’s depth and the characters’ complexities.
