Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan is under legal scrutiny following a criminal complaint alleging she made derogatory remarks about the Hindu festival of Holi. The complaint, filed by Vikash Fhatak, known as Hindustani Bhau, through his lawyer Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, was registered at Khar Police Station. It seeks legal action against Khan for comments made during a February 20 episode of the television show Celebrity MasterChef.
In the complaint, Fhatak alleges that Khan referred to Holi as “a festival for the Chhapris,” a term considered derogatory. He asserts that this remark deeply hurt his personal religious sentiments and those of the broader Hindu community. Advocate Deshmukh emphasized that such comments are inappropriate and have the potential to cause communal tension.
The FIR against Farah Khan has been filed under sections 196, 299, 302, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code. Following the broadcast, Khan faced significant backlash on social media, with many criticizing her for the alleged casteist slur.
As of now, Farah Khan has not publicly responded to the allegations.
