Samir Soni Addresses Drug Misconceptions in Bollywood After Sushant Singh Rajput’s Case

Actor Samir Soni recently discussed the widespread misconception that Bollywood is full of drug users, which he says intensified following the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. Soni highlighted that the perception of drug abuse in the industry has been exaggerated, especially with terms like “Bollywood druggies” gaining traction.

When asked to discuss a misperception about Bollywood in a GPlus podcast, Soni replied that the response might be a little political. He also mentioned that Bollywood is sometimes grouped together as though it is “one industry, where everyone is together.”

He continued, “It isn’t like that. It is a film business. If I am a producer who can make more money signing you than someone else, I will sign you. Bollywood is not homogenous; everybody is not the same. There are groups, with a lot of commonalities, like anywhere in the world or in any industry, where they like doing similar things or share similar interests. But there is no ‘one industry.’”

Soni expressed frustration over the public’s belief that “people have cocaine” at every gathering in the industry. He stated that while some individuals may engage in such behavior.
