Jr NTR’s latest blockbuster Devara is continuing its strong run at the box office, witnessing an impressive 40% jump in collections on Gandhi Jayanti. The film, which had a stellar opening, saw a surge in audience turnout on its sixth day, bringing its global earnings closer to the Rs 400 crore mark.
Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Devara Part 1 grossed a healthy Rs 20.5 cr nett on its opening Wednesday, up 40% from Tuesday’s receipts. While the Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil versions all made over Rs 4 cr, the original Telugu version proved to be the most successful, grossing Rs 13 cr.
The movie brought in nearly Rs 6 cr in Hindi, a 50 percent increase in earnings for the film. The increase has assisted the movie in getting back on track following a significant decline on Monday that raised concerns about its long-term box office potential. The action film Vettaiyan, starring superstar Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan in Tamil, will be released on theaters next week. Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, and Vicky, a comedy, will also be released on 11 October.
