Bollywood producer Ramesh Taurani recently came forward in support of fellow producer Vashu Bhagnani, who has been involved in a controversy surrounding the film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The row reportedly arose after allegations that Vashu Bhagnani had delayed payments to the crew during the film’s production. Addressing the issue, Taurani strongly defended Bhagnani, stating, “I don’t think he’s that kind of producer.”
Where Did It All Start?
Many of the people who worked on the film, especially those in the technical field, came forward after its box office failure and claimed they had not received payment from the producers, Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jackky Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment. This is how the scandal started. When the issue got to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) in response to a complaint directed at the producers by the director of the picture, Ali Abbas Zafar, things got more serious. Apart from Zafar, the production company has also been accused of nonpayment by directors Tinu Desai and Vikas Bahl, who directed Pooja Entertainment’s Mission Raniganj (2023) and Ganpath (2023), respectively. The Bhagnanis retaliated by accusing Zafar of “misappropriation of funds” in a police complaint.
Explanation of Taurani
Though whatever happened in the past, Taurani shoved it in the past and cleared the air by saying, “whatever happened will be cleared up and they will move forward. I don’t think he’s the kind of producer who would do something like this. He’s been around since 1995. I have never heard of him doing something like this with anyone’s money before. I think it’s a misunderstanding, and they’ll make sure it’s sorted out.”
