Director Raaj Shaandilyaa has clarified that his upcoming film “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” is not inspired by the Hollywood movie “Sex Tape.” The film, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, has been surrounded by speculation about its similarities to the American film, but Shaandilyaa is adamant that any resemblance is purely coincidental.
In a recent statement, Shaandilyaa addressed the rumors, emphasizing that his film has its own unique storyline and is not a copy or adaptation of the Hollywood film. He explained that while “Sex Tape” deals with themes of privacy and relationships, “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” focuses on different narrative elements that are original to his film. While Sex Tape centers on a married couple who record a sex tape to amp up their relationship, only to wake up the next morning to discover that it has vanished, “Vicky Vidya…” follows the titular married pair on a desperate hunt for a CD containing a video of their wedding night. Shaandilyaa added that following the release of the trailer for the 1990s drama “Vicky Vidya,” he learned about the existence of a movie titled Sex Tape.
Shaandilyaa revealed, “There’s no sex in our film’. I was told by one of our writers that in that film their video goes viral on the Internet. The video in our film is made by the couple and they lose the CD because of their negligence,” expressing his frustration with the misinformation, urging audiences to view the film on its own merits rather than drawing comparisons.
