Telugu star Nani has responded to Kannada actor-director Rishab Shetty’s recent criticism of Bollywood. Rishab Shetty had commented on the state of Hindi films, suggesting that Bollywood often misrepresents Indian culture and lacks originality. Nani, however, took a more balanced approach while addressing the topic.
In a recent interview, Nani expressed his admiration for Bollywood, saying, “There are some great magical films in Hindi. But I don’t think Bollywood shows India in a negative light.” He emphasized that every film industry, whether it be Bollywood, Tollywood, or Sandalwood, has its highs and lows. He believes that while there are some films that may not resonate with everyone, there are many others that have brought joy and magic to audiences worldwide. Nani also stated, “I think what Rishab means, is much more rooted stories. Somewhere, I think there’s a lot of importance is given to the technique and style of filmmaking rather than the core of the emotional story; this happens only in a few films. But there are some great magical films in Hindi”
In the meantime, Nani is presently promoting Surya’s Saturday, his most recent movie, which came out on August 29. The action movie, which is being directed by Vivek Athreya, is Nani’s most costly venture to date. Along with them are Priyanka Mohan, Abhirami, Aditi Balan, P. Sai Kumar, Subhalekha Sudhakar, and S.J. Suryah.
