Shruti Haasan Speaks Out Against Rising Sexual Crimes on Instagram

Shruti Haasan has taken a strong stand against the increasing sexual crimes against women, using her Instagram stories to voice her concerns. The actress and singer shared a series of posts addressing the disturbing rise in violence and abuse faced by women, urging society to take immediate action.

In her heartfelt messages, Shruti emphasized the need for a cultural shift and called for better protection and respect for women. She expressed deep concern over the growing number of incidents and criticized the societal mindset that often blames victims instead of holding perpetrators accountable. Shruti’s posts reflected her anger and frustration over the lack of safety for women and the urgent need for change.

The bulk of the notes that Shruti Haasan reposted were on the ongoing rape and murder case in Kolkata, and they dealt with sexual crimes against women. Influencer Andres Borge shared one of the postings among them, in which he questioned the authorities and charged them with failing to follow through on the Kolkata case. His notes state that numerous gaps have been exposed by the CBI’s slow-moving investigation, the lack of cooperation from the college officials where the crime occurred, and the fact that no suspects have been taken into custody in this case. In a different article, she republished a significant update that news presenter and journalist Faye Dsouza had released, in which she provided statistical information about the searches that were conducted online for rape video and photos of the Kolkata case victim. Shruti herself wrote a note denouncing the offenders and demanding action against such heinous acts after several news articles and statistical data were reposted. She said, “I didn’t want to just reshare news on my story cause it is scary I always have a hard time trying to process sexual assault. But we have to know the facts and statistics and take it beyond that and talk about it. This needs to stop. women have to feel safe.” However, we also need to be aware of the data and facts and go beyond that to have a conversation about it. This must end. Women must experience safety.
