Rishab Shetty Slams Bollywood for Negative Portrayal of India; Says, “My Nation, My Pride”

Rishab Shetty, the acclaimed Kannada actor and director, has taken a strong stand against Bollywood films that portray India in a negative light. In a recent interview, Shetty expressed his disappointment with the way some Bollywood movies depict the country, saying that these portrayals do not align with the reality of India’s rich culture and heritage. He emphasized that his nation, state, and language are matters of immense pride for him.

He said in the interview, “Indian films, especially Bollywood, show India in a bad light. These art films are invited to global events and given a red carpet. My nation, my state, my language—my pride. Why not take it on a positive note globally, and that’s what I try to do.”

He also showed his tiredness with the biasness of OTT platforms, “We premiere at festivals and win awards, but we do not get any platform for that. OTT platforms do not buy Kannada content, so we are forced to put it on YouTube channels. I am done with that. We don’t get any recovery from such films.”

Shetty, who has garnered praise for his work in the Kannada film industry, highlighted the importance of showing India in a positive light in cinema. He believes that films should reflect the true essence of the country, showcasing its strengths rather than focusing on negative aspects. According to Shetty, filmmakers have a responsibility to portray the country with respect and dignity.
