Ramesh Taurani Reveals Shahid Kapoor Was Cast in ‘Ishq Vishk’ as Shahid Khatter And Not As Pankaj Kapur’s Son

In a recent revelation, producer Ramesh Taurani shared an interesting anecdote about casting Shahid Kapoor in the hit film “Ishq Vishk”. Taurani, who played a pivotal role in launching Shahid’s career, disclosed that he had no idea Shahid was the son of renowned actor Pankaj Kapur when he cast him. At the time, Shahid was known by the name Shahid Khatter.

Taurani recounted the casting process, emphasizing Shahid’s talent and potential. “I had no clue Shahid was Pankaj Kapur’s son. His name was earlier Shahid Khatter and not Kapoor. In the film, he changed it to Kapoor.” Taurani said. This serendipitous discovery later added an interesting twist to Shahid’s debut.

Ishq Vishk, released in 2003, became a significant milestone in Shahid’s career, propelling him into the limelight and earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Taurani’s decision to cast Shahid, based purely on his merit, underscores the producer’s keen eye for spotting talent. Reflecting on Shahid’s journey, Taurani expressed pride in the actor’s achievements.
