Actress Lara Dutta recently addressed rumors regarding her role in the upcoming adaptation of the Ramayana, setting the record straight about her involvement. While there have been speculations about her portraying the character of Kaikeyi, Lara Dutta emphasized her eagerness to be a part of such an iconic project. Lara Dutta dismissed the rumors surrounding her role in the Ramayana adaptation, stating that while she would be thrilled to play Kaikeyi or any other character in the epic, no official announcement had been made regarding her casting. She expressed her admiration for the Ramayana and underscored the allure of being associated with such a revered narrative.
Lara Dutta said, “I am hearing it a lot as well. I am leaving the rumours out there. I also like reading and hearing about them so please continue. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of Ramayana? There were so many characters I would have loved to play if it was offered to me – Surpanakha, Mandodari, I am playing them all.”
Ramayana, starring Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, and Yash purportedly as Ravana, is currently being filmed by Nitesh Tiwari. Bobby Deol has reportedly been approached to play Kumbhkaran, however there has been no official confirmation, according to ANI. Vijay Sethupathi is reportedly in talks to play Vibhishan, Raavan’s younger brother. The Ramayana trilogy’s first part is expected to be released sometime around Diwali in 2025.
